On the fertile plain of the River Tagus, Almeirim is a small provincial town near the city of Santarém. Equestrianism and bullfighting are the culture in Almeirim, and on Ascension Day every year there is a tour de force led by riders dressed in classical livery on Lusitanian mounts.

The countryside around the city is striated with wines, and Almeirim has designed a wine route with 8 stops at refined rural properties and modern cooperatives. The city has pretty squares, mansions covered in tiles and a handful of attractions to pass the time.
